About JULYCOLUMN

Julycolumn embraces the art of circular design, bridging the forgotten values of the past with the present and the generations to come.

The philosophies and missions of designers whose creations transcended fleeting trends, the elegance that permeated not just fashion but everyday life and attitudes, the traditional craftsmanship that valued care and dedication over efficiency, the devotion and skill of artisans, whose handiwork defined quality and perfection. Julycolumn is deeply moved by the underappreciation and gradual fading of the rich resources of inspiration that once enriched the designer's childhood. The brand is rooted in the belief that preservation and inheritance are not just grand societal acts, but meaningful practices that can be carried forward as individuals and within the culture.

Fabrics, long forgotten in storage after serving their purpose, scraps and remnants too small to become whole, garments completed but never worn, secondary materials and linings that quietly played supporting roles. Reimagining the potential of these discarded materials and infusing them with creativity is where every creation begins. Small scraps are reborn as beautiful embellishments. Unsold garments are deconstructed and transformed into fresh designs. Materials that once served as minor components are repurposed into entirely new elements. Unfinished designs are completed by filling in the missing pieces.

Beyond the tangible, Julycolumn is equally committed to preserving and reinterpreting intangible resources―traditional techniques and values on the brink of extinction. This, too, is a vital aspect of mission for circular design. By embracing these enduring methods and staying true to the meticulous artistry of an atelier, every piece from the brand carries the timeless essence of a work of art.Julycolumn aspire for each piece to become a legacy, cherished and passed down, continuing its story through generations. With this vision, the brand presents styles imbued with the narrative of circulation―a journey of rediscovery, renewal, and enduring beauty.

Sustainable Craft & Signature Styles

Julycolumn is a modern boutique dedicated to timeless design and sustainable craftsmanship, offering bespoke garments, Ready-to-Couture pieces, and a wearable collection with a focus on practicality and accessibility.

Each piece is meticulously crafted in-house, undergoing every stage from design development, pattern-making, and sewing to handcrafting and packaging— by skilled artisans who have worked in close harmony for years. Built on trust and close communication with clients, the brand delivers unparalleled tailoring and detail that cannot be found in mass-produced fashion, offering garments of enduring value that transcend time.

Julycolumn embraces a mindful approach to production, crafting only what is truly needed while adhering to the philosophy of circular design and a unique upcycling process. The brand's process begins by sourcing season-appropriate materials from its fabric archive. Each design is carefully selected to maximize the use of leftover fabrics, preserving their original form as much as possible. Essential to this process is the deconstruction of past-season garments, returning them to raw materials. Every remnant-whether scraps, linings, or trims-is thoughtfully repurposed, finding new life in details, sleeves, skirts, and other design elements.

To minimize waste in production, Julycolumn continuously reinterprets and evolves signature styles, maintaining a core aesthetic while transforming details and techniques to bring new expressions to life.

Instead of adhering to seasonal collections, Julycolumn's designs form an ever-expanding, interconnected narrative. Julycolumn's creations revolve around two key motifs: Weaving motif, where fabrics are intricately interlaced to create sculptural silhouettes and artisanal patterns. Floral motif, which transform fabric remnants into couture-like textures with dimensional depth. From reinterpreting Nubi, a Korean traditional quilting technique, to incorporating modern elements like digital printing, the brand's designs evolve each season through a continuous dialogue between past and present. The act of weaving, connecting, and blooming reflects the brand's essence—a symbol of inheritance and circularity, where craftsmanship and creativity merge to give new meaning to the materials of the past.

SOOY PARK — Creative Director

The journey of designer Sooy Park traces back to her childhood in the UK. Growing up, she absorbed a world where objects―teacups, doorknobs, park benches, and even centuries-old architecture―were not easily replaced but cherished, carrying stories of the past into the present. She was deeply influenced by a culture that valued process over outcome, respected history and craftsmanship, and honored the personal narratives embedded in everyday life. Her time at Central Saint Martins and the London College of Fashion further shaped her artistic vision, drawing her towards fine art and the philosophy of the 19th-century Arts and Crafts Movement―an ethos that would later inspire the beginnings of Julycolumn in an East London art studio.

At the same time, her creative identity was profoundly shaped by a family heritage from her parents, who were pioneers of Korea's first generation of fashion designers. She grew up immersed in an archive of lived history―her parents' personal collections and accessories, samples hanging in rows, a cutting table piled with patterns, exotic books and fabrics, and the fierce energy of backstage. This sensory and emotional legacy, combined with years of experience in global fashion houses, became the foundation of her distinctive aesthetic. It provided a wellspring of inspiration, shaping her originality and artistic approach.

Beyond her personal heritage, she sought to evolve traditional Korean techniques and establish a structured development process that documents and refines creative ideas. Through this, she set out to preserve and reinterpret the fading legacies of past generations of designers, bridging them with contemporary sensibilities. She has actively sought out master artisans and restoration specialists, reflecting on the meaning of cultural inheritance. In an industry often driven by overproduction, she continually questioned: What echoes of the past should we keep alive? By weaving together her family's deeply rooted legacy with the traditions she has absorbed over time, she has solidified Julycolumn's identity―one built on the philosophy of circular design.
